Both teams showed the signs of being early in the season in the first period. Still several shots were fired on the net but both goalies made some big saves. Both teams also had powerplay opportunities but neither was able to take the lead in the first twenty minutes.

The second period started fairly slowly but then a powerplay for Fehérvár sped things up. Sarauer had the chance to take the lead for his side but the Polish defense worked effectively. The middle of the period is dominated by Tychy, then LoVecchio and Marino both threaten the net for Fehérvár but no goals are scored. The Polish team finally manages to take the lead in the 39th minute when a deflected puck lands in Robinson's net.

Fehérvár equalizes early in the third period after a perfectly prepared shot by Marino is shot into the net by Kóger. But just minutes later Tokaji is penalized for 2+2 for high sticking, followed by a call against Kiss. Tychy decides the game in its favor five on three and then finalizes the score with an empty net goal. The morning travel seemed to have its effect on Fehérvár which now only has until noon tomorrow to rest before facing Brasov in their second game in this tournament.

Rob Pallin head coach: Looking on the positive side, Attila Reiter sure made a statement, he played very very well. On the other side we need to work on plenty of things. This is what pre-season is for, sometimes a loss helps more than a victory
