Fehérvár takes the lead just a minute and a half into the game, Dániel Kiss lifts the puck towards the net and it falls into the net besides the catching glove of Zvolen goalie Orcik. The response from Zvolen comes after just three minutes when a distant shot finds its way into Robinson's net. The game's rhythm isn't very high but both teams play conscious hockey and both goalies have to remain active.

The young forward Sárpátki misses a scoring chance, then Kovács threatens with a shot. In the 16th minute Zvolen receives a poweplay chance when Sarauer is penalized. Fehérvár stays on the attack for a minute even while short-handed, then plays well defensively and Robinson also makes important saves. Shots from Banham and LoVecchio close the first period but both are saved confidently by Orcik.

The second period starts with consecutive penalties against Fehérvár but Zvolen is kept from creating any real scoring chances. Then the same is true for Fehérvár when Zvolen defends its net well during two consecutive powerplays for the visitors. Hetényi threatens with a promising distant shot, then the period ends with another powerplay for Fehérvár. Register starts the third period with a big shot, then consecutive five on three situations follow for Fehérvár. The puck is passed around well and finally Reiter takes the shot but it is saved. Then Sarauer cannot handle a pass from LoVecchio and Register shoots the puck above the net and Zvolen manages to keep Fehérvár from scoring. The game is played in high tempo but neither team creates real scoring chances despite penalties on both sides. Towards the end of the period Sárpátki could decide the game but Orcik makes a big save.

Finally the game is decided in a penalty shootout and Attila Orbán wins the game for Fehérvár in the fourth round.
